The design of the new A. Locatelli Primary School is characterized by architecture with a strong sense of identity and connection, conceived to integrate the educational space with the community and the surrounding landscape. The sloping roof and expansive glazed surfaces promote visual and functional continuity with the natural environment.

At the heart of the school, the atrium is envisioned as a scholastic agora—an open, dynamic space where flexible furnishings foster social interaction and informal learning. The building’s horizontal layout enhances engagement with the landscape and encourages the use of outdoor spaces.

A large pitched roof unifies the school’s communal areas and shelters shared spaces such as the library, which is also open to the wider public. The use of natural materials, such as wood, contributes to environmental comfort and quality, creating a welcoming and easily recognizable atmosphere.

The project presents a model for an innovative, sustainable, and inclusive school, thoughtfully designed to meet the educational and social needs of the local community.
